Q: How much pocket money did you get when you were younger?

A: £1.50 a week, just enough for pic’n’mix.

C: I got £2 a week for sweets and stuff!

D: I didn’t get pocket money, if I wanted or needed anything I would get it.

F: £10 a month in my bank and a couple of pounds when I went out if I needed it.

H: £1 a week.

J: £2 a week.

R: £10 every 2 weekends.

S: About £10 a week.


Q: Did you get more or less than your siblings/friends?

A: More or less the same.

C: I got more than my brother as I was older and probably got the same amount as my mates.

D: About the same.

F: Because I was younger than my sis I got less.

H: I had the same amount as my sister and my friend.

J: Probably less, all my friends got £5.

R: Around the same.

S: I think I got more. I’m not sure.


Q: Were you better at spending or saving?

A: Spending.

C: Definitely spending he he!

D: Spending.

F: Spending.

H: Spending.

J: Saving.

R: Saving, but now it’s all changed.

S: Oh definitely spending. I can shop for England!

 

Q: Why?

A: Because I would always spot one piece of junk to buy.

C: I love Playstation 2 games and clothes now that I’m a bit older.

D: Because if I see something I want, I can’t turn it away.

F: I love shopping.

H: Because whenever I saw anything I always wanted it.

J: Because I never wanted anything.

R: Because I wanted to have more in the long run.

S: Cos I love clothes!!!


Q: What did you save your money in?

A: A savings account so it was harder to access.

C: A savings account and I used my wallet as well.


D: Savings account and a moneybank.

F: Savings account.

H: I didn’t save it because I spent it straight away.

J: Chocolate money box. They were the best.

R: Savings account.

S: A savings account.


Q: What did you spend your pocket money on?

A: Sweets, CDs (if I saved).

C: Playstation games, clothes, PC games!

D: Little accessories.

F: Silly bits and bobs; yo-yos, toys, hairbands.

H: Lots of girly things like hairbands and handbags.

J: Playstation games.

R: Accessories mainly.

S: Erm..clothes, bags, jewellery. Allsorts.



Q: Did you ever ask your parents for a raise?

A: Yes, if there was something I couldn’t afford.

C: Yep, as I got older and I wanted more adult stuff which is more expensive.

D: No.

F: No.

H: Yes because I wanted more than £1.

J: Yes.

R: Yes, a lot.

S: No.

A: It depends how much I needed.

C: Every year I would get more money.

H: £2.

Q: Did you get it?

A: Sometimes, if what I wanted was useful my parents might let me.

C: Yes, gradually it went up slowly with the amount of jobs I did around the house.

H: Sometimes if I was good but most of the time it was only £1

J: Yes

R: Sometimes, I just behaved better.


Q: What was the most expensive item you ever bought with your pocket money?

A: A CD player that holds 3 CDs.

C: I saved up for my PS2 doing people’s gardens for them. It was pretty hard work!

D: I’m not sure. Quite a few things.

F: Probably an outfit or something.

H: I can’t remember because £1 really isn’t that much.

J: A Playstation game probably.

R: A Burberry purse.

S: I bought my brother a Christmas pressie. It was really expensive so I was proud.

Q: When did you open your first bank account and why?

A: When I was about 12 so I could save money and not waste it.

C: When I was 12 saving up for my PS2!

D: When I was about 10 or 11 I opened it to save money.

F: I was 8 and it was a savings account.

H: When I was 11 because my mum and dad thought it would be good to save some money.

J: I was about 11, and opened it to put in the money I got when I was in “Whistle Down the Wind”.

R: I was about 4 or 5. It was because I was a model.

S: When I was 11. Because I decided to start saving for when I’m older.

 

Q: Do you have any money or savings tips for OINK! readers?

A: Save some, spend some!

C: Don’t spend on rubbish you don’t really need!

D: As soon as you get money don’t spend it on something silly.Put it away and save it til you really need it.

F: Only buy what you need.

H: No because it’s just impossible. He he! If you want something just save up for it by putting it in a piggy bank because you can’t open it, you have to smash it.

J: I have a saying, “If you save, you can buy”.

R: Only get things you really need.

S: Don’t ever get the urge to take from your savings, you’ll regret it.
