STEPHANIE MCINTOSH - Actress

OINK! met Stephanie McIntosh who plays Sky Mangel in the Australian soap Neighbours. Stephanie’s debut album, Tightrope is filled with an array of killer pop songs about a modern young woman’s life. Tightrope was recorded in Melbourne whilst Steph was still filming for Neighbours.
“Singing is more personal,” she says. “Music is all I’ve ever wanted to do. It’s an urge for me.” Tightrope is a guitar driven pop album, which reflects Steph’s passion for music and zest for life.

How much pocket money did you get when you were younger?
SM: I never really got pocket money. I was just pretty lucky that when I needed some money, either mum or dad would give it to me. I was always fairly responsible so they trusted me with they money they gave me.

Did you get more or less than your siblings/friends?
SM: I’m not sure!

Were you better at spending or saving?
SM: Always a saver and still a saver!

Why?
Because I’ve had a great life, so I’ve been able to save and I think it’s important. I don’t need a lot and I’ve never had the urge to spend.

What did you save your money in?
SM: Savings account!

What did you spend your pocket money on?
SM: Most likely clothes or lollies!

What was the most expensive item you ever bought with your pocket money?
SM: My car!! Ha ha!

When did you open your first bank account and why?
SM: I was working from the age of 13/14 babysitting, so it was about then that I opened an account. My parents also advised me to save.

Do you have any money or savings tips for OINK! readers?
SM: Just to be careful with your money. Always put some money aside and don’t spend everything - ever! Don’t throw money away, ‘cause sometimes it’s very hard to earn it back!
