How much pocket money did you get when you were younger?
GM: £5.
LR: Ten quid.
EL: About £5 a week.

Did you get more or less than your siblings/friends?
GM:
The Same.
LR: About the same.
EL: I think my older brother got two pounds more and my younger got two less.

Were you better at spending or saving?
GM:
I’m definitely a spender.
LR: Spending definitely! And I regret it!
EL: Saving.

Why?
GM:
I’m rubbish at saving. If I see something I like, I buy it.
LR: I just liked buying stuff! Still do!
EL: I was saving up for stuff for my drumkit. I had a goal, and that helped me save.

What did you save your money in?
GM:
In a wooden cottage piggy bank thingy.
LR: A big oversized Coke bottle.
EL: I had it in a Credit Union account, I knew if I kept it on me I’d have it spent in a flash!

What did you spend your pocket money on?
GM:
Always CDs galore! - When people used to buy singles instead of downloading them.
LR: Music and DVDs!
EL: Stuff for my drumkit, CDs, clothes and sweets!

Did you ever ask your parents for a raise?
GM:
Yes all the time!
LR: Nah! I think I got enough!
EL: Always!

How much did you ask for?
GM:
I asked for a tenner.
EL: As much as my older brother!
Did you get it?
GM: Not a chance! A tenner was too much, according to my dad!
EL: No. Then my brother’s would have to be raised!

What was the most expensive item you ever bought with your pocket money?
GM:
I bought a personal CD player! And I absolutely adored it.
LR: I saved up and bought a guitar.
EL: An £800 drum kit!

When did you open your first bank account and why?
GM:
I think I was about 8. It was through a primary school project, introduced to encourage saving! It didn’t really work for me, though! I’m a nightmare.
LR: When I got my first acting job I opened it to keep my money safe where I couldn’t spend it!
EL: I had one from when I was young, but opened my own personal account when I got a part time job.

Do you have any money or savings tips for OINK! readers?
GM:
Listen to your mum or dad, nine times out of ten they are right. Try and save because it’s brilliant buying nice, expensive things when you do!
LR: Just set yourself a goal. Decide what you want to save for. Saving for nothing in paraticular is dull.
EL: Stick it into an account and let your mum and dad manage it, otherwise you’ll just spend it on stupid stuff!
