Q: How much pocket money did you get when you were younger?
My mum and dad just bought us stuff that we needed. But we got some money around birthdays and stuff from aunties, uncles and grandparents. I did earn my own money! When I was 12, I gave piano lessons… I charged £4.60…

Q: Was it the same for your siblings/friends?
Same really… When we got money – it was very fair…

Q: Were you better at spending or saving?
Oh god! Spending for sure. I am an expert at that.

Q:
Why?
Because I am a girl!!!

Q:
What did you save your money in?
I had a little Secret Pouch. Mine was a swan soft toy… And my sister had a horse.

Q: What did you spend your pocket money on?
Clothes, shoes and stuff. I’m still doing it!

Q: Did you ever ask your parents for a raise?
Oh yes. I think everyone tries. No!?

Q:
How much did you ask for?
Anything really – a pound here and there…

Q: Did you get it?
I am sure we did – my parents were nice!

Q:
What was the most expensive item you ever bought with your pocket money?
I can’t remember. It must have been either music or clothes.

Q: When did you open your first bank account and why?
I was eight! My mum and dad opened it for me. I used to go to the bank with them and put money (coins) into my account every week.

Q: Do you have any money or savings tips for OINK! readers?
Yes! Don’t waste your money on lots of little things. You end up losing them most of the time. Save up for something really, really special… And, of course, don’t lose the key to your Secret Pouch (PIGGYBANK)!
