Everyone in the UK is starting to hear about N1kki, the new teen popstar sensation. Here’s what he said to OINK!

Q: How much pocket money did you get when you were younger?
I think it was about £2 a week, although every Saturday my parents tried to forget to give it to me.

Q: Was it the same for your siblings/friends?
I always thought my friends got more but I think they were bragging about what they got.

Q: Were you better at spending or saving?
I am a good saver.

Q:
Why?
I save because I didn’t have much money when I was younger. Now I never spend money unless I really want something important.

Q:
What did you save your money in?
I initially saved my money in a big fat piggybank that I called “Gordon”. Then I got another piggy bank which wasn’t actually a pig. It was a small safe which had a code and a very annoying alarm. It took a very long time to fill up but when it was full, I would trot down to the bank and deposit the money into my savings account.

Q: What did you spend your pocket money on?
I bought the coolest BMX bike and a top of the range laptop that I use for business and pleasure!

Q: Did you ever ask your parents for a raise?
Yes, but they kept saying no. Now I don’t need pocket money as I earn my own money from show business.

Q:
How much did you ask for?
When I did ask it was for stupid amounts as I knew I wouldn’t get a raise, but it was fun winding up my mum and dad.

Q: Did you get it?
Not from my parents, but I did tap into the grandparents as they would listen to reason and were a softer touch!

Q:
What was the most expensive item you ever bought with your pocket money?
My laptop computer but it was definitely worth every penny.

Q: When did you open your first bank account and why?
My parents opened an account when I was a toddler. But when I was 10 and started at the Sylvia Young Theatre School, I took control of my account. It was then that I was earning money from professional work, such as the Harry Potter movies, West end shows and TV. I have been able to invest a proportion of my earnings in developing my music business. I can now afford to record songs, produce music videos and develop my website, which by the way is www.n1kki.com

Q: Do you have any money or savings tips for OINK! readers?
Yep, N1kki’s top three tips are…
1) Save, save, save and keep on saving. Only buy something that you absolutely need rather than buy something you like.
2) Be different. Don’t get a credit card - ever!
3) Never spend more than 50% of what you have got. It’s my slant on the oldies, “save for a rainy day”… or even worse, a tsunami.
