Alicia took time out to chat to OINK! and let us know all about her saving and spending tips...

Q: How much pocket money did you get when you were younger?
A.K: None. I had to earn my money in Hell’s Kitchen NYC (New York City).

Q: Was it the same for your siblings/friends?
A.K: We all struggled when we were younger.

Q: Were you better at spending or saving?
A.K: I always saved any money I actually got because I knew the value of money. I knew that one day I would need it to follow my ambitions. At that time my mom’s love was far more important to me than money, anyway.

Q: What did you save your money in?
A.K: I had a tin under my bed that I used to save everything special to me in, including my cents.

Q: What did you spend your pocket money on?
A.K: Stationary for my writing and music.

Q: What was the most expensive item you ever bought with your pocket money?
A.K: A collection of Stevie Wonder hits, including ‘As’. He was my favourite all time artist. Mom’s too - so we could both enjoy it.

Q: When did you open your first bank account and why?
A.K: I left performing arts school at 16 and was accepted into Columbia University. It was at this point that I needed a bank account and opened one before starting university.

Q: Do you have any money or savings tips for OINK! readers?
A.K: My tip would be that love is more important than money and that you should always save your money to secure your future dreams.
