...AT
THE DISNEY CHANNEL KIDS AWARDS 2004
OINK!

in September... it was a fab, celeb-filled night and some well deserved
awards were won...
McFly
won ‘Best Newcomer’, Arsenal scored as ‘Best Team’,
Rachel Stevens triumphed as Best UK Female/Group’ and Busted
won ‘Best UK Male/Group’...
There
were other top names in the world of pop, entertainment and sport
including Girls Aloud, Big Brovaz, Christopher Parker (Spencer from
Eastenders) and Olympic Gold Medallist, Darren Campbell! |

|
We
took the opportunity to get lots of Celebrity Saver tips for OINK!
readers...
When
it came to the amount of pocket money, most of our celebs got between
50p and £1 every week when they were younger, but some (like
Christopher Parker and Holly from Ministry of Mayhem only got pocket
money when they did jobs around the house... luckily for Holly she
had a generous tooth fairy, too!
Penny
sweets and chocolate were a popular choice for spending pocket money
on... The Big Brovaz girls, Christina Bailey (from Hollyoaks) and
Peter Andre all had a sweet tooth - and Peter told us that he is
a total chocoholic! |
 |
Holly
revealed her love of Sylvanian Families - she had every family and
house!
England
Rugby Prop, Julian White, bought magazines and anything to do with
motorbikes, and Mark from V loves model cars!
Both
Rachel Stevens and Sarah from Girls Aloud said they spent their
dosh on clothes, CDs and make-up... and Tisha from The 411 spent
her money wisely on dance lessons, and especially loved reading
Point Horror books.
|
|
As
for the most expensive item they ever bought with their pocket money...
Christopher Parker spent £40 on a really nice jumper and Darren
Campbell bought himself a bike for £100 when he was 14. Leon
from V saved a whopping £150 on a coat when he was 15, and
Tisha saved up for a portable CD player.
We
also asked our celeb friends for their top money or saving tips.
The overwhelming response was that you should save, save, save!
Here’s what a few of them had to say:
Big
Brovaz girls: “Stick to a regime of how much you want to put
away each week, and make sure you don’t touch it!”
Darren
Campbell said “Find something that you really, really want
and then save up for it.”
Holly:
“Try to put a little bit away every week and it will soon
build up.”
Julian White: “Enjoy yourself, but spend wisely. It’s
good to focus on something you want to save for.”
Mark
from V: “You’ve got to save your money, but every now
and then, treat yourself!”
Finally,
Girls Aloud’s Sarah advised you all to “Get a piggybank!”
