How much pocket money did you get when you were younger?
Richard: Between £2 and £5 a
week depending on my chores!
Ollie: £1 from my mum and £1
from grandma.
Dean: £10 per week.
Gary: £3 per week until I was 13 -
and then it stopped!

Did you get more or less than your siblings/friends?
Dean: More, because I did the gardening for
my mum.
Gary: Less, my sisters said they needed more
because they were girls!!

Were you better at spending or saving?
Ollie: Saving, coz I always wanted to buy
footy or music stuff - so I had to save up!
Gary: Definitely spending - It’s more
fun!

What did you save your money in?
Richard: When I saved, I kept my money in
a big green froggy bank I’ve still got!
Dean: In my pocket!

What did you spend your pocket money on?
Ollie: Footballs, CD’s and going to
see Newcastle Utd. with my dad!
Gary: Drumsticks, football stickers and the
arcades.

Did you ever ask your parents for a raise?
Ollie: Yes, quite often - I got a raise every
birthday.
Dean: Yes, as much as I could get!

What was the most expensive item you ever bought with your pocket money?
Richard: My first guitar when I was 14.
Dean: A 100 foot scalextric track. My mum
wasn’t happy!

When did you open your first bank account and why?
Dean: I was 14 and I had a summer job that
paid me cash.
Gary: I was fifteen and I had birthday cheques
to pay in.

Do you have any money or savings tips for OINK! readers?
Richard: SAVE, SAVE, SAVE! you never know
when you’re gonna need it.
Ollie: Have a money jar and put change from
your pocket in it. It soon piles up!
Dean: I’m the last person to take advice
from!
Gary: Try to split your money into spending
money and saving money. You’ll be surprised how your savings mount
up!
