| Q:
How much pocket money did you get when you were younger?
MO:
I can’t really remember but maybe about £5 a week. I always
got 50p sweet money though on a Sunday.
Q:
Did you get more or less than your siblings / friends?
MO:
I think less than some, more than others.
Q:
Were you better at spending or saving?
MO:
Definitely spending!
Q:
Why?
MO:
I was a big fan of chocolate in all different shapes and sizes.
Q:
What did you save your money in?
MO:
I had a piggybank, but it wasn’t ever
full! When I got a bit older, maybe around 14, I got better at saving
and used to keep my spare change in a huge bottle.
Q:
What did you spend your pocket money on?
SM:
Football magazines,
buses to and from my friends’ houses and trips to the cinema.
Q:
Did you ever ask your parents for a raise?
MO:
No, but I think as I got older they did give me more. I also had a newspaper
round aged around 13 and worked in a clothes shop from the age of 14 which
gave me about £20 a week.
Q:
What was the most expensive item you ever bought with your pocket money?
|
MO:
Probably a game for my computer. They used to cost around £8.99
back then!
Q:
When did you open your first bank account and why?
MO:
I opened one at around the age of 13. I had some birthday money and wanted
to put it in the bank - they also gave me a nice starter pack.
Q:
Do you have any money or savings tips for OINK! readers?
MO:
Just enjoy yourself... and if you save 10% of everything you receive or
earn for the next 60 years, then I’m sure you’ll have a good
sum of money in your bank when you are retired to treat yourself to something
special!
